A show for the rest of us

Secondo Ace of Spades HQ sarà un flop catastrofico. Le previsioni di Hot Air sono, tutto sommato, sulla stessa linea. E' questa l'accoglienza ricevuta, a destra, dal nuovo show di Fox News che debutterà domenica sera negli Stati Uniti: "The Half Hour News Hour". Uno show di satira politica (infotainment, se volete fare bella figura) che è stato pensato da Joel Surnow - il produttore di "24" - come la risposta right-wing al "Daily Show" di Jon Stewart, rito laico quotidiano irrinunciabile (e francamente insopportabile) per i liberal di ogni latitudine. Eppure, malgrado la solidità della produzione, malgrado il divertente trailer con Rush Limbaugh e Ann Coulter, rispettivamente presidente e vicepresidente insediati alla Casa Bianca, malgrado le assicurazioni di Libertas (uno dei pochi blog conservatori affidabili di Hollywood), la riva destra della blogosfera ha accolto con enorme scetticismo i primi video che iniziano a circolare sul web. "Poco divertente", "scritto male", "le risate finte sono obsolete", "bla bla bla". Badate bene: nessuno (o quasi) ha ancora visto la versione definitiva del prodotto. E tutti (o quasi) hanno già emesso la loro sentenza di condanna. Di fronte a questa ondata di autolesionismo, vi lasciamo immaginare la reazione dei mainstream media e della blogosfera sinistra, a metà strada tra il disgusto e il solito, inaffondabile, senso di superiorità esistenziale.

Noi, invece, almeno fino a quando il programma non verrà definitivamente cancellato dai palinsesti di Fox News in seguito ad una rivolta popolare, abbiamo il sospetto che "The Half Hour News Hour" si dimostrerà uno show divertente, che ci piacerebbe venisse importato anche in Italia. "E' ora - ha scritto qualche giorno fa il columnist conservatore (e gay) Doug Giles su Townhall - che la destra prenda sul serio la comicità". Sottoscriviamo con il sangue. E non possiamo che aspettare con trepidazione il debutto di una trasmissione politicamente scorretta in cui si sfottono Barack Obama, l'ACLU, il fondamentalismo ecologista e le altre vacche sacre della sinistra mondiale. Intanto, ci gustiamo le anticipazioni di Rush Limbaugh (qui l'audio) e Mary Katharine Ham, pronti a scaricare - e diffondere - la prima puntata dello show appena sarà disponibile nei meandri della Rete. Antiterrorismo: 15 arresti, anche ex brigatisti. Gli indagati, tra cui alcuni ex sindacalisti, sono accusati di voler far rinascere le Brigate Rosse.

E' questo il modo con cui il Corriere della Sera, nella sua versione online, ha deciso di titolare la notizia del giorno. Peccato che, leggendo l'articolo in questione, si scopra che "tra i destinatari dell'ordinanza cautelare in carcere firmata dal gip Salvini ci sono anche alcuni sindacalisti della Cgil, già sospesi". Ex sindacalisti, insomma, soltanto perché coinvolti nella retata delle forze dell'ordine. E dunque prontamente sospesi dal sindacato di Epifani (che fu di Cofferati). Ma fino a ieri sindacalisti - della Cgil - in servizio permanente effettivo. Pronti a disegnare il bersaglio sulla schiena del Marco Biagi di turno, per rendere più semplice il lavoro dei loro compagni brigatisti.

Per il Corriere.it, però, sono tutti ex: ex brigatisti, ex sindacalisti. Come a voler sottolineare che i bei tempi del terrorismo rosso sono ormai passati e che questi sono soltanto colpi di coda organizzati da reduci passati di moda. E invece basta scorrere la lista dei loro obiettivi - da Berlusconi a Murdoch, da Libero a Ichino - per rendersi conto che questi terroristi di inizio millennio non sono affatto una eco lontana di un'epoca ormai trascorsa, ma il tragico, contemporaneo esempio di un filo rosso che non si è mai spezzato. Che non si è mai voluto spezzare.

E Creez Dogg rivendica - più che giustamente - la primogenitura della loro scoperta (almeno in Italia): aveva scritto un post su di loro (e non solo) addirittura nell'aprile 2006. Sarebbe il caso di dire chapeau! Ma per fortuna non siamo francesi :)

The Failure of Fusionism?

Abr, su Ne quid nimis (aggiornate i link, se non l'avete ancora fatto), segnala un interessante articolo di Daniel McCarthy sull'ultimo numero di The American Conservative dall'inquietante titolo "The Failure of Fusionism" e dal più rassicurante sottotitolo "Libertarians are growing uneasy about their alliance with the Right, but that doesn’t necessarily make the Left a natural fit". Hillary (ri)svolta a sinistra

Secondo Tony Blankey, su Real Clear Politics, la deriva sinistra del partito democratico sta convincendo Hillary Rodhman Clinton ad effettuare una brusca svolta nella sua strategia di posizionamento in vista delle presidenziali 2008. Ne ho parlato brevemente lunedì scorso, nelle battute finali di una intervista a Radio 24 dedicata alla figura di Barack Obama, e resto della stessa opinione: Hillary ha provato troppo presto a spostarsi verso il centro, dando per scontata la sua vittoria alle primarie democratiche. Adesso che questa vittoria non sembra più così certa, per l'emergere alla sua sinistra di figure come Obama (o i redivivi John Edwards e Al Gore), l'ex first-lady svolta nuovamente verso sinistra ed accentua i toni della retorica pacifista e populista. Ma il timing di queste sue giravolte potrebbe sembrare troppo forzato anche all'osservatore più disattento. Si tratta, insomma, di una strategia molto rischiosa, soprattutto perché - anche se vincesse le primarie - Hillary sarebbe prima o poi costretta a ri-svoltare verso il centro. E ricordatevi cosa è accaduto all'ultimo flip-flopper che ha corso per la Casa Bianca.

Climate Porn

Se il "global warming" è reale e l'uomo ne è responsabile, allora perché così tanti "esperti" hanno la necessità di affidarsi a dati falsi? Il famoso grafico "bastone da hockey" mostrava la storia del clima nel nostro pianeta come un lungo bungalow con l'Empire State Building appiccicato alla fine. Completamente falso. Nel valutare l'impatto industriale, l'Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ha utilizzato le stime sul Pil basate sui tassi di cambio invece che sull'acquisto di energia. Come risultato, si assume che entro l'anno 2100 non solo i sudafricani, ma anche i nordcoreani avranno un reddito pro capite più alto degli americani. Ecco perché i modelli computerizzati sul cambiamento di clima sembrano spaventosi. Ecco quanto "solido" è questo tipo di scienza: predice che l'economia della Corea del Nord sorpasserà quella degli Stati Uniti d'America. Potrebbe accadere. Chi lo sa? Ma è proprio questo il punto: chi lo sa? Si potrebbe prendere ogni centesimo speso da ogni governo, ONG o gruppo ambientalista per investigare sul "climate change" e spenderlo per acquistare porno su Internet; non farebbe la benché minima differenza su quale sarà il clima nel 2050. Farebbe, tuttavia, una enorme differenza sul tenore di vita del jet set che si occupa del cambiamento del clima.

Il solito Mark Steyn, sul Chicago Sun-Times (via Mark My Words) prende a pesci in faccia i pornografi del "climate change". Il breve stralcio tradotto (male, da noi) è soltanto un assaggio. Si consiglia caldamente la lettura integrale.

Intanto, arriva la notizia che il cosiddetto "effetto serra" c'è anche su Marte, Giove, Saturno e Plutone (leggi anche Krillix, 1972, StarSailor e Le guerre civili). I casi sono due: o l'amministrazione Bush (con Halliburton e Big Oil al seguito) ha invaso l'intero sistema solare senza che nessuno se ne sia accorto; oppure i catastrofisti del "climate change" stanno ingrassando da anni alle nostre spalle.

Il caso Glucksmann [open trackback]

"Glucksmann ha compiuto un gesto che suona come la rottura con un conformismo, grazie al quale si può fare tutto tranne che scegliere un progetto politico vicino alle proprie convinzioni, se questo progetto è destra, o centrodestra o non è sinistra. Ha già compiuto gesti analoghi in passato. Oltre trent'anni fa fu tra coloro che, all'uscita di Arcipelago Gulag, demolirono in Europa il mito sovietico. Dopo l'11 settembre ha saputo cogliere la minaccia del «nuovo nichilismo». Ora segnala l'estinzione dell'ultima ideologia della sinistra europea e delle sue pretese di egemonia. Dopo l'endorsement di André Glucksmann a Nicolas Sarkozy, che ha sconvolto la sinistra europea, il sito della Fondazione Liberal ripropone gli articoli più recenti scritti dal filosofo francese per la rivista bimestrale. E Renzo Foa spiega perché non bisogna stupirsi della scelta di Glucksmann.
