Una raffica di notizie clamorose ribalta, inaspettatamente, il fuoco incrociato di accuse tra Democratici e Repubblicani sulla disastrosa gestione dell'emergenza-Katrina a New Orleans. Ecco la prima. Come è drammaticamente evidente nella foto qui sopra (clicca qui per ingrandire), scattata da un satellite della NASA, il 31 agosto alle 10 di mattina un grande ponte sul fiume Mississippi (il Crescent City Connection) e le sue rampe di accesso erano ancora accessibili dal centro della città. In almeno quattro zone non ancora raggiunte dall'acqua si notano benissimo circa 500 autobus, che potevano essere utilizzati per evacuare le persone "internate" dal sindaco Nagin al Superdome o al Convention Center. Esattamente lo stesso numero di autobus che Nagin ha rivelato di aver chiesto all'amministrazione Bush, accusandola di non essere intervenuta in tempo. Ed erano disponibili quattro giorni prima dell'evacuazione del Superdome (fonte: Rambling's Journal via Protein Wisdom). Già il 3 settembre, grazie a Google Earth, JunkYardBlog aveva scoperto 146 autobus parcheggiati a meno di un miglio dallo stadio. Evidentemente, spiega Newsmax, il sindaco Nagin non si accontentava di qualche scalcinato scuola-bus giallo ma puntava al comfort ineguagliabile dei Greyhound. (Le verità nascoste/2)

A blast of resounding news overturns, abruptly, the crossfire of accusations between Democrats and Republicans on the dredful management of Katrina's emergency in New Orleans. Here is the first one. As it appears dramatically in the above picture (click here to get an enlargment), taken by a NASA satellite on August 31 at 10 AM, a big bridge on Mississippi river (the Crescent City Connection) and his entrance ramps were still accessible from downtown. In at least four areas not yet reached by water one can observe very well about 500 buses, that could have been used to remove people "detained" by Mayor Nagin inside Superdome or Convention Center. Exactly the same number of buses Nagin revealed to have asked for to the Bush administration, charging it not to have gotten into action on time. And they were available four days before evacuation from Superdome (source: Rambling's Journal via Protein Wisdom). Back on September 3, thanks to Google Earth, JunkYardBlog had discovered 146 buses parked at less than a mile from the stadium. Clearly, explains Newsmax, Mayor Nagin did not settle for a worn yellow school-bus, but was looking for Greyhound's unmatched comfort.
